How Cool is this ??????

My sweet friend, Michelle,

I think she's lyin' ... she looks wayyyy to young for that !

I have more ideas than I do money and time !

Irene whooooo ?????

This weekend in North Jersey was one of hype, 24 hour "storm" coverage on television and rain, lots and lots and lots of rain. Irene or her remnants really brought lots of water and some wind. I've heard that the shores got hit pretty bad,

but thankfully up here it was a big fat nothing !

It's still a bit breezy, but the sun

is working her way out this afternoon.

The view off my bedroom porch:

Just a few small branches and leaves scattered.

I went outside and checked it all out:

My August blooming Plaintain Hostas are looking good:

Te hot tub is overflowing and looking a little green around the gills !

All in all we were very lucky - Irene was a polite guest here on Lavender Hill

I'll admit, it's been a weird week -

one of Earthquakes and Hurricanes in Northern Jersey !

Cabana Caboodling

We have a small carriage house here on Lavender Hill. When we bought the house it was being used as a workshop and I converted it into a classroom when I began homeschooling many years ago. After giving us 12 good years as The Academy on Lavender Hill, the carriage house began to take on a second wind as a cabana.

Matt Matt picked the lime green color:

Both the kitchenette and the main living area are really GREEN.

There's a nifty sleeping loft up there -

painted a delicious geranium pink:

I found this fun quilt for the bed up there:

I think the pink and green will be perfect to cozy up the loft !

Mommy's custom built "entertainment center" C 1950,

features a louvered door TV compartment:

A very groovy bar -

lighted just like 007 would have had:

And the original Bose stereo -

that STILL works !

I'm painting the cabinet white and replacing the torn linen panels with:

I'll be making fresh curtains out of the same gingham.

I've ordered this adorable sleeper:

I think it will adorable with my

watermelon stinker

and some gingham pillows!

I'm so excited to FINALLY be getting some work done out there.

And the twins soda machine moved out there from their apt:

It's a neat space and a perfect spot for entertaining.

Impatient with my impatiens !

Alternating ridiculous heat and days on end of rain on

Lavender Hill this summer.

The results: a pretty lousy garden !

The bright buckets off the back porches

are one of the few exceptions:

The window boxes are completely gone... rotted and eaten =

GROSS !

I'm looking forward to maybe putting in some

pansies or mums next month.

I read my favorite gardening sites with such envy.....

and think - maybe next year !
